They’ve missed a trick not calling this Galaxy News Radio and lobbing in Three Dog soundbytes, frankly. This 22 minute chat, hopefully the first of many, features Bethesda’s king Todd Howard and id’s creative boss Tim Willits chatting about game design, QuakeCon and regrettable moustaches. (more…)

Don’t call it a comeback. Okay, do. With Quinns’ recent move to London, Kieron and he decided to gather in an office and mumble at one another. And then record it. And then share it. You can download it directly from here, subscribe to it by RSS with this, or get it on iTunes from here. And breakdown of what we cover follows…

It’s not really an RPS podcast. Sorry. It’s just me on someone else’s podcast. Sneaky little tyke that I am. My mouth-hole was recruited to accompany Eurogamer editor Tom ‘Tom Bramwell’ Bramwell, their writer Dan Pearson and Ignition producer Jamie Firth in a chat about topics including Dragon Age 2, Blizzard’s real name silliness, War For Cybertron, whether that OnLive stuff is a threat to the PC and whether blockbuster games are allowed more than three As.

I mentioned it briefly before, but it’s official now. There is a new World of Warcraft podcast in town. I’ve always had my sights set on expanding to podcasts and videos. Dawn Moore, the host and producer (Spiritual Guidance on WoW.com, discipline) will be regularly joined by Kinasthesia (Vodka’s ace priest, holy) and myself (some guy with multiple blogs, who plays both).

Now to be fair, we’re all priests. There will be times where we make efforts to discuss healing from ..read the full article

Welcome to the 28th episode of the Working As Intended podcast!

Don’t you hate it when people spam your Facebook page with a bunch of random nonsense about pink cows lost on their farm, muffins in their restaurant, or needing to put out a hit on someone in Cuba?

Then man, are you ever going to hate the next few years of MMO gaming, if SOE has anything to say about it.

Can it really have been so long? It seems so. It’s episode 41! Jim and John gather once more to discuss matters of gaming, philosophy, and quite how tired everyone is. We’re all so tired. Enjoy John’s croaky voice, Jim’s pretty hair, and thoughts on shooters, Macs and the lack of gossiping murderer-based games. Plus bonus exclusive interview with Zombie Cow!

Welcome to the 27th episode of the Working As Intended podcast!

It’s been far too quiet around these parts, lately. But, hopefully things will be getting back to normal soon.

E3 is coming up next month, and it’s always a crowd-pleaser.

Until then, we have some actual honest to God news and features for you this week. Not the least of which is Carrie Gouskos sitting down with Steve to have a little chat about Warhammer Online. And by little, we mean 40 ..read the full article

Welcome to the 26th episode of the Working As Intended podcast!

It’s been a real slow couple of news weeks in the world of online gaming.

So slow, in fact, that we skipped last week’s recording entirely, and the sum total of two week’s worth of news barely even broke the 20 minute mark, making this the shortest non-Power Level show we’ve ever done.

On a technical note, we were testing out a new piece of recording software for this show, and it ..read the full article

Welcome to the 24th episode of the Working As Intended podcast!

In this week’s show Jeffrey and Steve are joined by The MMO Gamer’s own Kumar Daryanani, who braved the mean streets of San Francisco to bring us exclusive coverage of GDC 2010.

Listen in as they discuss not meeting John Romero, why Turbine is making money hand over fist charging $2.00 for imaginary hair dye, what Heatwave Interactive is up to, and much, much more.

Welcome to the 23rd episode of the Working As Intended podcast!

In this week’s show we’re joined by Sean Stalzer, sometimes better known by his nickname “Dragons,” to touch on the finer points of what it’s taken to keep The Syndicate, one of the largest and longest-running guilds in MMO history, up and running for over 14 years, and the relationships it has built with developers over that time.

Welcome to the 22nd episode of the Working As Intended podcast!

In this week’s show we’re joined by Gordon Farrell of Reverie World Studios to discuss Dawn of Fantasy, the company’s inaugural MMORTS.

Gordon is Lead Writer on the project, and as story quality (or lack thereof) in the genre is a favorite topic of discussion here at The MMO Gamer, you can bet that we had a lively conversation.

For those wondering about his credentials to pontificate on such topics, when he’s ..read the full article

Kind of a fun title, no?  I’m ready to let the “fail” jokes ensue!  Mwa-ha-ha-ha!

In all seriousness, the folks over at Raid Warning (xSeven and Epiphanize) have assembled this special podcast (scheduled to be released March 1st) – a roundtable of some of the community’s most prominent priests.

Raid Warning’s last roundtable, Wild Shots, was a huge hit.  It was a roundtable of some very well-known hunters in the community.  You can follow links on their site ..read the full article

Welcome to the 21st episode of the Working As Intended podcast!

In this week’s show, we largely focus on the declining difficulty of the modern MMO genre (or as many people call it, the ‘dumbing down’) in order to appeal to a wider audience than its original base.

Using STO as a jumping off point for the discussion (sorry, Cryptic, we’re going to stop ranting about your games eventually, we swear), the conversation weaves its way from the Sunwell in World of Warcraft, ..read the full article

It was bound to happen sooner or later. Karen and Adam (who you guys may already know from Journeys with Jaye and Epic Slant) caught me off guard and asked if I’d be willing to guest on a podcast of theirs, View from the Top. Having never done a single podcast in my entire life (although I have lots of experience talking to myself, and the cat) I decided to face my fears of public speaking, and give it a ..read the full article
