In just little over a day of being in closed beta, Monster Hunter Frontier for the Xbox 360 has reached up to 51,455 simultaneously connected players. Capcom estimates that the player count for the Closed Beta will end up reaching 180,000 to 200,000 players.

Monster Hunter Frontier’s Japanese Xbox 360 Closed Beta is now live. The launch was originally scheduled for yesterday, however the beta was postponed by a day due to serious bugs.
The Xbox 360 release is a port of the three year-old PC MMO based on the popular Monster Hunter franchise. The scheduled Japanese release date is set for June 24th. I guess it was more of a bang than a whimper! There’s quite a big turn out.
Merric at A Casual Stroll to Mordor reports that LOTRO’s Japanese servers, Aeglos and Narya, have shut down. Venerab, a player in Japan, was nice enough to comment on their post and explain a bit about what’s going on. Apparently some of the Japanese players are planning to move over the Elendilmir, a North American server. Much to my surprise, in Japan, the client is free and they only charge a subscription fee.
