Even though I’m not updating MMeOw proper any longer, I still regularly play LOTRO. I take screenshots pretty often and I thought it’d be worth sharing some of them.
You can view the site here: http://mmeow.net/shots/
Some of you might have noticed I posted about this before. It didn’t go as planned. All is good now!
Some of you may or not know that I have been posting screen shots of my LOTRO game time on my.lotro.com. Unfortunately, as of late I’ve been getting weird errors. I thought I might as well just bring it here instead.
Hey everyone. Don’t get too excited, I’m not really bringing back the site or anything. I just figured I take pictures from the game, so I might as well put some of the cooler ones up somewhere. I’ll start ..read the full article
This may come as a bit of surprise, but I’ve decided to close up MMeOw.
I felt this way a few months ago and was encouraged by support from fellow LOTRO bloggers and podcasters. I stuck it out and, in many ways, I was happy I did.
Still, I know what it is that I’d like to do … unfortunately, that means letting go of this site. There are too many other things I need to do and wish to accomplish, things ..read the full article
This morning, LiuTsieng posted a brief explanation on how the gauntlet system for Barad Guldur is supposed to work. After the bug fix for the gate issue in this area, some things have been adjusted.
We don’t do a great job of communicating the way the gauntlet works, so here’s what’s happening in that pic:
— You have 40 minutes from the time you kill the last two armored guards at the end of the gauntlet to kill Durchest ..read the full article
The dwarves of the Deep Descent seemed pleased with what Eluveril had accomplished. A few of them told her she should move on to the Chamber of the Crossroads. This proved to be pretty simple as she’d been there before; a quick payment to the local stable keeper and she was on her way.
The Chamber of the Crossroads itself is a relatively small area on the far eastern side of Durin’s Way. The surrounding area turned out to be surprisingly ..read the full article
Creating an Alt in not a easy decision for me to make. It’s a great responsibility to bring a new character into Middle-Earth, and I want to make sure that I’m going to be able to provide for it. The biggest thing for me is: Will I have the time? Usually the answer is no, and I promptly ignore this and create the Alt anyway.
So what drives me to create an alt? There are a few different reasons:
I want ..read the full articleI’ve been without a kin for over 6 months now and while it does get boring talking to myself in chat, I have to say I’ve survived pretty well without one. I’ve filled my hours working on crafting and doing as many solo quests as I can. I do occasionally group with a friend or two for the 3-mans or to knock out lower level quests. But lately I’ve been missing the raiding I used to do in my old ..read the full article
Hounding Fear is one of those mob skills that has always been a center of debate. In the past I would say it was overused, but Turbine has made an effort to change that over various updates. Today I came across this post on the forums from LOTROSystems with some clarification on how Hounding Fear currently works and what is planned for the future:
Hounding Fear.
This has been the subject of many threads, complaints, frustrations, and arguments. We’ve responded in ..read the full article
It’s another Welcome Back Weekend in LOTRO, but this time there’s something different going on. The bonus XP for mob kills has been reduced to 5%, but to make up for this all stable travel is free. FREE!
I honestly like this a heck of a lot better, as it’ll benefit everyone across the game. It also encourages returning and new players to see more of the world and the things that have been changed.
The event starts today and runs through ..read the full article

Eluveril made her way through the Great Delving and on to the Dolven-view today. The trip there was a little confusing, but there were helpful dwarves along the way willing to give directions. On subsequent trips, the paths almost became second nature … particularly if you notice that you can largely follow an old, crumbling stone road most of the way.
The entrance to the Dolven-view.
The Dolven-view was a welcome sight after all of the darkness and creepy noises Eluveril ..read the full article

This site gets a lot of searches related to the Old Forest flower deed. Nowadays you kids have it easy. Back when I had to first worry about this, I had to run around with 2 wolves, 3 bats, a bear, several spiders and some evil trees on my tail. We didn’t even have a detailed map! But I digress …
I thought it would be helpful to put together a map of the flower locations. I didn’t bother with coordinates, ..read the full article
Graalx2 posted on the official forums today, confirming that legacy tiers will be fixed soon:
We have found the issue with all of the legacies costs not decreasing as the legacy tiers up. It will be fixed in the next major patch (not tomorrow’s). There was a problem with rounding off that caused the numbers not to change as they should. This will correct all legacy costs for all classes.
If you’re not familiar with ..read the full article

Eluveril has spent a lot of time in Eregion lately, helping out her fellow Elves against the pressing threat. She’s taken out her share of half-orcs, wolves and wargs, that’s for sure. Only just today did she make it to Echad Mirobel, which took a bit longer than planned.
Eluveril enters Echad Mirobel.
Today also marked the day that she ventured into the area surrounding Moria. After helping the dwarves out with various chores, she was regaled with the story of ..read the full article

If you’d like your screen shot to be immortalized here, feel free to send it on over!

Today’s Random Screenshot features my main character, an Elven Rune-keeper named Eluveril. Her name translates to “blue rose”, although I’ve not decided on a surname yet. This is on the main road in Rivendell, overlooking a waterfall. One touch I love about this area are the ..read the full article
Every day this site gets a good amount searches related to buying gold in LOTRO. For those of you trying to find that information, my main piece of advice is simple: don’t do it.
No gold seller is reputable in the sense that they’re “OK” to use. Even if they do their services properly, buying gold is against the terms of service you agree to every time you play the game. Losing your account (and, essentially, the money you’ve invested into ..read the full article

I purchased Everquest II on Steam a couple of weeks ago. I never really gave it a real shot (beyond the neutered trial), but for $5 I figured what the heck. While I can’t really afford to play more than one subscription-based MMORPG at a time, Everquest II does have some cool things going for it. Every so often I would see something that I thought LOTRO could benefit from copying to some degree.
One of these things pops up the ..read the full article

Siege of Mirkwood has been out for a while now and I’m interested in reading people’s opinions on it. The introduction of skirmishes was obviously a big deal, not to mention the addition of southern Mirkwood and all that came along with it.
Prior to its launch, I read comments around the Internet on both ends of the spectrum. One that caught my attention remarked that Turbine would regret releasing this “mini-expansion” and that in the coming months Turbine would be ..read the full article
Volume 2 Book 9: Siege of Mirkwood, Patch 1 is up on Bullroarer for testing. For some reason it feels as though there’s been a longer gap between the release and Patch 1 than usual, but maybe things are just dragging for me. You can read the full notes on the official forums: http://forums.lotro.com/showthread.php?t=312145
As usual there are issues floating around that aren’t addressed by this patch, but we’ll have to hope they’re addressed in the future. I know there are ..read the full article
