So, it looks like they’ve actually implemented real 5-man dungeon progression (as a way to skip raiding and still get great gear upgrades). You’ll get item level 219 gear from the normal 5-man (basically, Ulduar 10-man gear equivalent), and ilevel 232 gear (ToC 10-man gear equivalent) from the heroic 5-man. So, here is even more casual friendly content and easy to obtain gear upgrades for really casual non-raiders.
We don’t know exactly what the raid dungeon will look like for Icecrown ..read the full article

venerab has a video on his site that’s really worth seeing. Recorded by turezuretei, it depicts the last 9 minutes of the Japanese server, Narya, in action. Check it out.

I guess it was more of a bang than a whimper! There’s quite a big turn out.
I’m feeling a little stir crazy with my busted foot, but Today’s Champions patch cheered me up. After the requisite few hours of patch day downtime of course.
The pet fixes, after several previous changes, finally make my Field Drones useful while soloing. The lag to dismiss them is gone, but I don’t even need to dismiss them as often since they can now navigate through doorways and other tight spaces. The secret sauce to this trick wasn’t better pathing, but ..read the full article

This is my fourth September in review, since I passed the three year mark earlier this month. The whole idea of a month in review started on a whim as I wanted to wrap up what had gone on that first month. Somehow it became a tradition. If you like the tradition, go me! If you don’t like it, well, it is only once a month.
The BlogFlux Topsites “13 Watch” continues from last month. I should probably just take ..read the full article

Jeffrey Philipp takes the recently released Champions Online for a spin in his review of the superhero MMORPG from Cryptic Studios and Atari. Hit jump to find out what he thinks about the game.
To the outside world a nerd is simply a nerd, but anyone brave enough to delve deeper into the culture will find that there is a whole ecosystem of nerdery just below the surface. While there’s dozens of varieties of fanboys and enthusiasts out there, the groups that ..read the full article

Icecrown Citadel coming next patch 3.3. Blizzzard has updated the Euro Wow site with a plethora of information. Everything sounds incredible, finally we get to face the Lich King himself. Here is the quick rundown of what we know at the moment;
Icecrown Citadel will feature a massive five-player dungeon sprawling across three wings of the citadel’s foundation. While the Lich King’s attention is focused on the Argent Crusade and the Knights of the Ebon Blade ripping through the front gates, ..read the full article

I’m going to have to fall for the viral marketing tricks on this occasion and link to ATI’s science fiction website for the XFX graphics range of 2118AD (which is a rather unsubtle teaser site for the Radeon HD 5000 cards), because it’s a little bit bonkers. The spoof corporate videos poke fun at common futurist themes, such as the blurring of the reality-virtuality distinction, and the silly science of post-human augmentation, with not-quite-funny-but-what-why-did-they-do-that results. It’s just a shame that ..read the full article

Or even BANGBANGBANG! Battlefield: Bad Company 2 has many best things, as you’ll see in this trailer of the multiplayer aspect of the game, below. We’ve heard only good things about the game so far, better things, indeed, than the previous game. It’s good to see some of that confirmed in a riot of game footage. Destructible scenery, vehicles, beautiful animation and particle effects… all splendid in the virtual violencing. I’ll stop prattling, I’m almost delirious with exhaustion. Go watch. Merric at A Casual Stroll to Mordor reports that LOTRO’s Japanese servers, Aeglos and Narya, have shut down. Venerab, a player in Japan, was nice enough to comment on their post and explain a bit about what’s going on. Apparently some of the Japanese players are planning to move over the Elendilmir, a North American server. Much to my surprise, in Japan, the client is free and they only charge a subscription fee. Any fees that were paid in advance ..read the full article

Icecrown Citadel: The Frozen Halls Quote from: Blizzard (Source) Icecrown Citadel will feature a massive five-player dungeon sprawling across three wings of the citadel's foundation. An epic quest line will present adventurers with the task of weakening Icecrown ..read the full article

I was having a discussion with a fellow officer last night after our raid. We had just completed ToC 25, Ony 25 and VoA 25, with relatively few speed bumps. My friend and I were talking about what makes me happy from a leadership perspective in a raid. I decided to type out the list I came up with as what I look for from my raiders.
Sign up! – One of the biggest problems any raid leader or anyone who ..read the full article

Update - This hotfix isn't active on US servers yet.
Abyssal Shatter Hotfixed to Live Servers!A very interesting change was hotfixed to live servers today, Enchanting: Abyssal Shatter is now available from your local Enchanting Trainer!!
I won't try to link it to my enchanting AH guide released 2 days ago (it's all a conspiracy against me, I know it!) and I will post the results I got from a few shatters I did on live servers.
It is our great pleasure to announce the First Annual Architect Awards, which will be hosted at this year's Hero-Con!
